Aston Villa should make a move for Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke if they are promoted

Aston Villa fans know all about Christian Benteke’s quality, even if he hasn’t shown it this season.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are open to selling Christian Benteke in the summer – and that may give Aston Villa a chance to bring him back.

Villa would, of course, have to earn promotion to the Premier League to pull off the transfer.

But if Villa do win the play offs, then Benteke should be one of their top targets.

Benteke has endured a difficult season at Palace this time around, with the Belgian scoring just two goals in 27 Premier League appearances.

However, Villa supporters need no reminder of Benteke’s quality, as he was deadly in his first spell with the club.

Benteke scored 49 times for Villa in 101 appearances, and a move back to the Midlands club could do wonders for his confidence.

If Villa could restore Benteke back to his best, he would be a wonderful addition to Steve Bruce’s squad.

And the exciting potential reunion provides Villa with just that little more incentive to get promoted this season.
