Aston Villa are said to be keen on signing Craig Dawson from West Bromwich Albion in the summer.

According to a report in The Sun, Burnley are prepared to offer West Bromwich Albion £10 million for Craig Dawson, which should lead Aston Villa to look elsewhere.
Villa have been linked with a move for the Baggies defender in recent times, with Steve Bruce keen to raid his side’s Midlands rivals.
However, if Burnley are willing to offer £10 million for Dawson, then he is starting to look like a very costly addition.

And Villa should look at alternatives on the market for that sort of price.
Villa would, of course, need to be promoted to be able to afford that sort of fee, and if Bruce’s side are playing in the Premier League then the pool of players available to them would be vast.

Dawson may present a solid and reliable option in the top flight, but he is hardly a show stopping signing.
Villa would arguably need better than Dawson to feel totally assured of survival next term.
And, considering his price tag is starting to look expensive, Villa would be wise to look elsewhere, rather than rival Burnley for the Baggies defender.
