Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has been reportedly attracting interest and Aston Villa should join the race to sign him.

From changing managers in October to leaking goals, newly-appointed boss Dean Smith has been facing the same defensive problems Steve Bruce had during the first part of the campaign.
Villa have conceded 40 goals from their 26 league matches this term – two fewer than what they conceded throughout the whole of last season as they were beaten in the playoff finals to Fulham.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Villa’s Championship rivals West Brom enquired about Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama as the London club are open to offers for the defensive-minded midfielder.
If Villa can persuade the 27-year-old to drop down to the Championship, albeit a big ask, then it would help solve their defensive problems and enhance their chances of gaining promotion from the Championship.
Smith desperately needs a defensive head in the middle of the park, a player that can sense danger, protect the defence and lead the backline.
Wanyama falls into that category for the Midlands club and they should look towards previous loan purchases as proof that they can land his signature this month.
Since Villa’s relegation to the second tier of English football, they have signed or loaned the likes of John Terry, Yannick Bolasie, Robert Snodgrass and Tammy Abraham.
Adding Wanyama to their squad would arguably be their biggest coup and best answer to their current issues.
