Aston Villa should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm at the end of the season.

With Sam Johnstone only on loan and Steve Bruce not really having a cluster of quality options to pick from after him, it is no surprise that Aston Villa appear to already be considering bolstering their goalkeeper options for the summer.
The Daily Mirror reported at the weekend that Bruce had sent Villa’s top scouts to have a look at Feyenoord veteran Brad Jones, with a potential return to England on the cards for the Australian.

Jones has done well in the Eredivisie and has represented his current side in the Champions League, but his time in the Premier League was not exactly an overwhelming success.
He spent much of his time on Middlesbrough’s and Liverpool’s books as an understudy and unfortunately struggled to put serious pressure on the respective goalkeepers ahead of him in the pecking order in that time. So perhaps the Villans should shelve their plans to target the 35-year-old and instead make a move for Tottenham’s Michel Vorm.

Transfermarkt shows that the Netherlands ace is out of contract at the end of the season, and with the 34-year-old playing second fiddle to Hugo Lloris, it would appear that there is every chance that he may be heading into his final few months as a Spurs player.
Vorm has been a terrific performer in the top flight and continues to impress in the cup competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s men – he helped Spurs reach the semi-final of the FA Cup at the weekend.
Vorm would surely relish the chance to be a number one again before the end of his career, so perhaps he may find a move to Villa a tempting opportunity if they are promoted out of the Championship this season and Bruce makes a move for the stopper.
Jones may prove to be a good signing if Villa pursue him and manage to get him through the door, but Bruce should seriously consider making a move for the Spurs ace first if Vorm’s contract is allowed to expire.
