Following the news that Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn is available for loan next month (as reported by the Daily Mail), there will be no shortage of clubs interested in taking the 18-year-old Wales international for the second half of the campaign, and Championship side Aston Villa would be wise to join the race.

Villa boss Steve Bruce has proved savvy in the loan market in recent times and adding Woodburn to his squad in January would be another tick for the plus box.

Villa need more goal threat following Jonathan Kodjia’s injury and with a clear lack of faith in Scott Hogan. Youngster Keinan Davis cannot be expected to do everything on his own and Woodburn would add more creative spark to a side pushing hard for promotion come May.

The teenager has already featured 10 times for Liverpool’s senior side and his ability to play in a number of different opinions means he could ease Villa’s goal-scoring woes while also adding more strength in depth both centrally and in wide areas.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will want to send Woodburn to a club where he can play regularly and Villa have given loanees Sam Johnstone and Josh Onomah that chance in recent times.

If the money is not available for Villa to make a permanent signing, a temporary swoop for the Welsh wizard could be ideal for all concerned.
