Aston Villa are keen on signing Filip Helander, linked with a summer move to Leeds.
Aston Villa are interested in centre-back Filip Helander, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Villa have reportedly sent scouts to check Helander out in action for Bologna.
Helander, 24, has made 11 appearances for Bologna this season, 10 of which have been starts.
Villa are looking to replenish an ageing backline which has depended on John Terry and Christopher Samba this season.
Helander would be a smart addition, but Villa could face a threat from Leeds United.
Goal reported in June that Leeds were eyeing up a move for Helander, although no deal was struck.
Helander is a former teammate for Leeds defender Pontus Jansson at Malmo, and fans had hoped they would renew a partnership which sees them still meet up together on international duty.
The Whites have been inconsistent defensively this season and Villa’s interest could lead to Leeds re-establishing their own pursuit, if it appears Helander could be available.
