Inter Milan have reportedly seen an offer for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez turned down by Unai Emery’s side.
According to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, Inter Milan , with their new-found wealth following the departure of Andre Onana to Manchester United, have targeted Aston Villa goalkeeper and World Cup winner with Argentina, Emiliano Martinez, to replace the Cameroonian.
The offer, according to Edul, is in the region of €15 million (£13 million), with the offer – unsurprisingly – being instantly rejected by Villa.
Martinez, 30, played an essential role for Argentina as they claimed their World Cup crown in 2022.
Despite Lionel Messi receiving most of the plaudits, it was Martinez who was crucial not only in the final against France but in the Quarter-Final shootout win against the Netherlands, too.
His antics on the line, which FIFA are seemingly clamping down on, was a joy to watch at times as the 30-year-old did his best to throw off the penalty taker, and more often than not it worked a treat.

Despite Inter’s offer, which can only be described as derisory for a player of Martinez’s quality, being rejected, the report from Edul states that the Italian giants are ‘thinking’ of another bid for the goalkeeper.
But it seems it would need to be a substantial improvement on their previous offer.
Despite Chelsea previously having an interest in Martinez, according to the Mirror, it is Inter who are reportedly the most engaged in conversations for the Argentine number one.
The report doesn’t state how much Villa would ask for the former Arsenal goalkeeper, but surely they would demand potentially double or even triple what Inter have offered and it would be hard to argue with the West Midlands side.
Martinez has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League, so Villa would drive a hard bargain to allow the Argentine to make the move to Italy.
