Aston Villa are becoming ‘increasingly frustrated’ at the lack of progress in talks to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

Villa, who narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, are keen on signing Watkins soon, with the new season to start on September 12, according to the report.

However, according to the report, there is ‘vast competition’ for the attacker, and Villa are reluctant to get into a bidding war.

Sheffield United and Fulham are reportedly among the clubs interested in Watkins, who is valued at £25 million.

Aston Villa transfer?

Described as “a clinical finisher” by former Villa striker Kevin Phillips on Quest (9pm, February 8, 2020) (click here to read more), Watkins – who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder – would be a very good signing for Villa.

The Villans need someone to score goals, and Watkins does just that, and the 24-year-old also creates chances for his teammates and can play out wide.

According to WhoScored, Watkins made 49 appearances in the Championship for Brentford last season, scoring 26 goals and providing three assists in the process.
