According to L’Equipe, Aston Villa are interested in signing Niclas Eliasson from Bristol City in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the French publication that Nimes are also interested in the 24-year-old winger.

The former Sweden Under-21 international is out of contract at City at the end of the season, and the Championship club have offered him an extension to his current deal, according to the report.

Bristol City spell

Eliasson has been on the books of City the summer of 2017 when he joined from IFK Norrkoping.

Lee Johnson was then the head coach of the Robins, and he raved about the winger on the club’s official website.

As quoted on City’s official website in August 2017, Johnson said that the Swede “can be very special in the Championship”, and added that he has “got an outstanding crossing ability; he’s very quick and very sharp”.

The 24-year-old scored three goals and provided 12 assists in the Championship last season, while in 2018-19, he scored two goals and provided six assists in the league, according to WhoScored.

Said Benrahma situation

Another winger Villa have been linked with this summer is Said Benrahma, with The Daily Mail reporting in August that the Villans want to sign him.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has admitted that he does not know if Benrahma will be at the club when the summer transfer window closes next month.

The Evening Express quotes Frank as saying about Benrahma: “I don’t know if he will be here after the transfer window. But that’s part of football, so we deal with it.

“And I must say that Said has been bang-on in terms of attitude and being a top professional. That’s just the transfer window.”
