Aston Villa have been linked with Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Aston Villa are considering a move for Middlesbrough’s Darren Randolph as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options this summer.
Villa have been busy in the transfer market so far. Their latest signing is defender Ezri Konsa, arriving in a £12 million deal from Brentford. He is their seventh signing already.
Randolph, meanwhile, is the latest name to be considered and the Middlesbrough number one is arguably the most impressive of the three considering the excellent campaign he has just had.
The Republic of Ireland shot-stopper won Boro’s Players’ Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards. Moreover, he was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
Randolph helped Boro concede the joint fewest in the Championship last season, with 41 goals conceded. However, it wasn’t enough to see the Teesside club finish in the top six as they missed out on a playoff spot.

Villa finished three points above Boro last season, and the West Midlands club went on to win promotion to the Premier League after defeating Derby County in the final at Wembley.
Jed Steer is currently Villa’s number one, but the 26-year-old lacks top-level experience and many would consider Randolph to be an improvement between the sticks at Villa Park.
