Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has reportedly felt that it was imperative to strengthen his goalkeeping options this summer.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has surely signalled the end for Jed Steer and Mark Bunn at Villa Park, if he completes his latest transfer plan.

Villa are said to be close to bringing in Orjan Nyland by the Express and Star, with the stopper expected to arrive in the Midlands in the coming days.

Villa have already added Andre Moreira in recent times to bolster their goalkeeping options, and with Nyland also set to arrive, Bruce appears to have shown he has little confidence in either Steer or Bunn.

Steer and Bunn were both handed chances over pre-season to stake their claim for the number one shirt at Villa, following Sam Johnstone’s departure, but neither of the pair impressed.

The duo both were highly error prone, and Bruce appears to have felt that two new goalkeepers were required this summer.

Bunn and Steer may now take that as their cue to leave, as Villa won’t want to be carrying excessive wages.

Although the Villans financial problems have eased, they still need to cut costs, and Steer and Bunn could be set to depart in the coming weeks now.
