The Villa loanee posted a Twitter message after the 0-0 draw with the Royals, prompting a lot of love from one fanbase and anger from some of the other.

Tyrone Mings of Aston Villa scores for Aston Villa during the Sky Bet Championship between Reading and Aston Villa at Madejski Stadium on February 02, 2019 in Reading, England.

Aston Villa missed out on a great opportunity to close the gap between themselves and the Championship’s playoff places due to a 0-0 draw away at struggling Reading on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors were impressive in the first half and came closest to breaking the deadlock before the break, Tammy Abraham wasting a great close range opportunity and former Royals loanee Tommy Elphick finding the woodwork with his header.

Jose Gomes’ charges struggled to create many concrete chances, although Nelson Oliveira drew gasps with a volley which went over the bar, though the hosts appealed for a penalty when Alan Hutton appeared to take down Ovie Ejaria in the area.

Abraham, Villa’s top scorer, came close to claiming a goal late on in the game but his header from Anwar El Ghazi’s probing delivery was kept out by a stunning save from Reading goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

Defender Tyrone Mings made his debut for the Villans following his deadline day loan move from Bournemouth and put in an impressive performance, the Birmingham Mail rating him 8.5 for his efforts.

Midway through the second half, he was involved in a collision with Nelson Oliveira and caught him in the face with his boot, which resulted in a lengthy stoppage, a lot of blood and the Royals man having to come off.

Following the game, Mings sent a message on Twitter about his debut and also wished Oliveira well:

It got a largely positive reaction from the Villa fanbase:

Not so from some Reading fans, who called for him to get a ban:
