Aston Villa take on Wigan Athletic on Saturday hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s result which saw them suffer their first defeat since Steve Bruce’s appointment.

While the Villans were beaten 2-0 by Leeds United at Elland Road, it would not be a major surprise if Bruce kept faith with the team that faced the Yorkshire outfit.

Before Kemar Roofe’s opener midway through the second-half, Villa arguably looked the slightly more threatening side against a team that moved up to fourth with the victory, so while the result was not ideal, the performance would have undoubtedly been encouraging.

The one change that Bruce may be considering is whether Ross McCormack comes back into the team following his return from injury, given the team’s inability to find the back of the net last week.

But as the Scottish striker has not played for more than a month and only has two goals to his name since his summer switch, it seems much more likely that he will begin the game on the bench and may be brought on at some stage.
