Aston Villa moved out of the Premier League relegation zone on Monday night, drawing 0-0 at home with West Ham United.

After a controversial 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, fans were hoping to see a big response back at Villa Park, but Dean Smith’s side just couldn’t quite break down West Ham.

Even after Arthur Masuaku’s red card, Villa couldn’t get the winning goal, and they had to settle for a point in a goalless stalemate.

Villa then posted a positive message on Twitter last night, highlighting that no club have kept more Premier League clean sheets than Villa this season, and only three have conceded fewer goals.

Five goals were conceded in the first two games of the season against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth, so it’s now just one goal conceded in the last three games.

Tyrone Mings and new signing Bjorn Engels have been superb so far this season, and whilst the defensive record is encouraging, some Villa fans are worried.

At the other end of the pitch, Villa have gone two games without a goal, and have only scored four times in their first five games of the campaign.

Villa fans responded to the club’s tweet by suggesting that they will struggle to stay up if they don’t score goals at the other end of the pitch, criticising striker Wesley as well as the wingers at the club.

Others pointed out that the stat doesn’t change that Villa are 17th in the Premier League, and need to be more potent going forward if they’re to make strides this season.
