Hull City manager Liam Rosenior is pleased to see that Jacob Greaves’ ‘outstanding’ form is not going unnoticed as Premier League duo Hull City and Nottingham Forest chase the youngster, speaking to the Hull Daily Mail.
Left-footed defenders are worth their weight in gold these days. And Greaves, a southpaw himself, is almost guaranteed to attract even more attention if the 22-year-old maintains his current rate of progress in the second tier.
Greaves is showcasing a versatile streak on Humberside this season; a centre-half by trade, he has been a revelation at left-back under Rosenior. Factor in his ‘home-grown’ status and you can see why the Yorkshire-born stopper is on the radar of many a Premier League club.

Brentford, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest like Hull City’s Jacob Greaves
“It’s wonderful that a player who has come through our academy has been spoken about in this way,” Rosenior smiles. “I love it when my players are being linked with clubs higher up. It means they’re doing a good job. And it means the team is doing a good job.
“Jacob’s an outstanding player. Would I rather have him here from a footballing point of view? One hundred percent, because he’s got so much potential and so much to learn.”
According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa and Brentford are monitoring Hull’s vice-captain. As are Nottingham Forest; Steve Cooper’s backline hit hard by a series of injury issues.
Hull, the report adds, are likely to demand around £7 million for Greaves.
“Every single club has to make a decision based on their best interests,” Rosenior adds. “Sometimes that’s keeping a player and sometimes that’s selling a player. I’m sure we’ll make that decision whenever that comes up.”
“He is brilliant. He’s naturally an outstanding player. He’s got a lot of potential, he understands the game. We’ll see in the summer what comes of (the interest).”
Greaves has four goals and two assists from his new-look left-back role this season.
