Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to their Champions League status being in their own hands after Chelsea beat Leicester on Tuesday – although it’s not as easy as that.

On paper, Liverpool can win their remaining two games and secure a top-four finish, even secure third.

But goal difference could also come into play, with Liverpool currently one better than fourth-placed Leicester, who take on Spurs on the final day, whilst Chelsea travel to Aston Villa.

Chelsea are sitting on 67 points and three points for them will do the job, but lose to a fan-returned Villa Park on Sunday then they may well be heading to the Champions League final needing to win the whole thing in order to qualify for the competition itself next season.

Liverpool, from their perspective, were infamously beaten 7-2 at Villa Park earlier on in the campaign and boy would those same Reds supporters be hoping Jack Grealish and Co. relive that same magic at the weekend.

Equally, the Anfield faithful will also be hoping that Harry Kane, who has perhaps been the best player in the Premier League this season, works his magic in what could be his final game for Spurs against Leicester.

Last night’s events at Stamford Bridge didn’t help Liverpool, according to their supporters, with a draw a better scenario.

But either way, Liverpool just need to do their job and hope that there isn’t any drama during the last few days of the season.

Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Chelsea beating Leicester, which now affects their game against Burnley tonight:
