Aston Villa are now in talks to sign Ferran Torres – who was sold by Manchester City back in January 2022.
According to SPORT in Spain, the Villans are holding positive discussions with Barcelona over a deal for the 23-year-old.
With Mateu Alemany now helping Aston Villa with their recruitment, a move for Ferran Torres seems likely.
What’s the story?
Well – according to SPORT – Aston Villa are very confident about finding an agreement with Barcelona for the Spain international.
Unai Emery is said to be a big fan of Torres – who is believed to have a huge salary offer from the Villans – and believes he can have a tremendous impact in the attacking department at Villa Park.
Barcelona will not sell their No.11 for less than €42m (£37m) – the Spanish giants need to recoup that sum in order to keep their finances balanced.

Torres moved to the Camp Nou in a £47m deal from Manchester City back in January 2022 after scoring 16 goals in 43 appearances for the Citizens.
The Spaniard impressed in England, although life has been fairly tough for him back in Spain – so far this season, he has netted just seven goals in 41 outings.
In fairness, most of his appearances have come from the bench as Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele are preferred in attack, so perhaps a fresh start in the Midlands is exactly what Torres needs.
Ferran Torres to Aston Villa could upset someone
In our view, Emery will have to drop one of his regular starters if Torres – who Luis Enrique once claimed is among the best crossers of the ball around – arrives in the Midlands.
£37m is not a small amount of money, so you would assume that he would be signed as a starter.
Therefore, the likes of Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey, Jacob Ramsey and Bertrand Traore may be left sweating by Torres coming to Villa Park – Ollie Watkins is surely untouchable after his stunning season.
Nevertheless, Torres is a versatile forward who can play on either flank as well as in the centre of attack, so his arrival would give Emery another quality option.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as talks between Aston Villa and Barcelona continue.
