So, it’s official. Unai Emery has left the likes of Arnaut Danjuma behind in Villarreal after being chosen to replace Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

The Spaniard has returned to the Premier League after guiding the Yellow Submarine to the Champions League semi-final last season, having left these shores in 2019 when receiving his P45 at Arsenal.

Emery is set to reunite with the likes of Emiliano Martinez and Calum Chambers at Villa Park, although there could soon be another reunion on the cards.

Aston Villa could sign Arnaut Danjuma

Well, back in July 2021, it was said that Aston Villa wanted to sign Danjuma from Bournemouth, after the Netherlands international shone for the Cherries – that was according to The Sun.

Eventually, Villarreal and Emery managed to fend off the Villans and others, completing a £21.3m deal for the Dutchman, who went on to score vital goals against Juventus and Bayern Munich in that aforementioned Champions League run.

Danjuma netted 16 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions last term.

After beating Bayern Munich 2-1 across two legs at the quarter-final stage, Danjuma described Emery as a “tactical mastermind” in his post-match interview, where he heaped praise on the 50-year-old.

The 25-year-old clearly enjoyed having Emery as his manager, producing the best goalscoring return of his career under the Spaniard’s guidance, and we feel Aston Villa will therefore have a golden chance to sign the forward if they reignite their interest.

Arnaut Danjuma could thrive at Aston Villa

In our view, Danjuma has the potential to cause chaos alongside the likes of Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Leon Bailey up top.

The Dutchman is able to play either on the left, or in the centre, of the attack, so he could interchange positions with Watkins and Bailey during games, as the pair are also versatile forwards.

It would give Emery some flexibility across his frontline, and given their strong relationship, we see no reason why a reunion with Danjuma cannot happen in the Midlands.
