Aston Villa were said to be interested in Toni Toni Leistner, but he ended up at Queens Park Rangers.

QPR announced the signing of Leistner today, and that has to be of some concern for Villa, if they were interested in the defender.
QPR have hardly pulled up any trees since dropping down into the Championship, but if they are now outmuscling them for transfer targets, it is hard to see where Villa can turn.

The claret and blues have a very limited budget this summer, with loans and frees transfers likely to be all they can bring in, due to their financial problems.
Villa’s options are, therefore, limited and losing out on potential targets is a blow.

Leistner may have been a bit of an unknown quality in English football, but if QPR are now more appealing to players than Villa then it says a lot about Steve Bruce’s side’s current plight.
And this summer looks like it could be massive challenge, as Villa look to somehow attract talent to the club, despite the current uncertainty.
