Aston Villa have joined Norwich City in the race for Fleetwood Town defender Amari’i Bell, according to The Blackpool Gazette.

The 23-year-old left-back is valued at £1 million by the League One outfit due to the fact he is heading into the final year of his contract.

And the Blackpool Gazette claim that Aston Villa and Norwich are both willing to stump up the money needed to prise the talented full-back from Fleetwood.

Bell had an excellent season with Uwe Rosler’s side – who lost to Bradford in a playoff semi-final – and scored three times in 53 games across all competitions.

The report goes on to state that the duo’s Championship rivals Birmingham City are also in contention to sign him.

Their reported interest is rather embarrassing, given the fact that he was released by the Blues two years ago.

Still, it is good that the West Midlands side are reportedly acknowledging a mistake by trying to re-sign him.
