Aston Villa and Newcastle supporters on Twitter provided mixed reactions to reports linking them with Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba.

Zimbabwean outlet Chronicle have reported that the Premier League duo are keen on the defensive-minded midfielders service, who is aptly named ‘Marvelous’.

From Villa fans’ perspective, it was another name linked to their club since their promotion to the Premier League in May. As for the Toon Army faithful, well, they are baffled that yet another name is being touted with their club despite their manager being days away from leaving.

Rafa Benitez’s contract is due to expire at the end of this month and, as things stand, he is heading straight for the St James’ Park exit door.

Therefore, it wouldn’t surprise many that the Newcastle faithful are more concerned about who will be walking their touchline come the first game of the new Premier League campaign in August rather than being concerned about a midfielder named ‘Marvelous’ turning up on their doorstep.

Either way, the report states that the midfield powerhouse will fetch a price around the £20 million mark. From Villa’s perspective, that’s realistic. For Newcastle, under the stewardship of Mike Ashley, they’d have to wait another decade to just to break the 20 mil barrier.
