Aston Villa are said to be keen to sign Tom Heaton from Burnley.

Tom Heaton is needed more than ever before at Aston Villa, after Orjan Nyland’s terrible display last night.

Villa and Nottingham Forest drew 5-5 yesterday, with every shot the Reds had on target going in.

Nyland was blameless for Forest’s first three goals, but he could have done more to stop the final two.

The summer signing was first beaten from range by a Joe Lolley strike, and then Lewis Grabban’s deflected effort squeezed past him at the near post.

And Dean Smith’s mind would surely have been made up over the signing of Heaton now.

The Daily Express claim that Smith is currently contemplating making a move for Heaton in the January transfer window.

And Villa’s need for an upgrade in goal was made obvious last night, as Nyland’s performance was well short of the standard required.
