Daniel Sturridge was linked with a move to Aston Villa last month.

The Sun claimed last month that Aston Villa were interested in Daniel Sturridge.
The England international is a free transfer after being released by Liverpool but, two months on, Sturridge still hasn’t been snapped up.
Aston Villa look set to miss out on Neal Maupay, who seems like he’s going to Brighton, so now is the time to renew an interest in Sturridge.
As far as value goes, the Villans probably won’t find a better bargain – and certainly not before the transfer window shuts. Being a Bosman, they don’t have to get him in before Thursday, but their attached targets will have to be signed before then.
This is a player who has hit 76 Premier League goals in 218 appearances.
Not only is he proven in the Premier League, but Sturridge is also young enough to still have some years left in the tank.
He only turns 30 in September an, interestingly, he is absolutely nothing like Wesley in the way that he plays the game, meaning he would and should be an effective plan-b option for Dean Smith.
Smith’s side kick off their top-flight campaign with a tricky trip to Tottenham on Saturday.
