Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks dejected during the Sky Bet Championship Play Off Final between Aston Villa and Fulham at Wembley Stadium on May 26, 2018 in London, England.

With Aston Villa needing raise significant funds this summer to ensure they comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, Steve Bruce’s transfer record since taking charge is sure to come under scrutiny.

Villa have spent significant funds since dropping to the Championship, but they missed out on promotion this term, after losing at Wembley to Fulham.

It would be completely wrong to suggest Bruce has done a poor job since taking charge, but there may be some decisions which he regrets.

And the signing of Scott Hogan looks to be a particularly poor piece of business.

BBC Sport reported how Villa paid £12 million for Hogan back in 2017, and they must be regretting that decision now.

Hogan just has never hit form at Villa, with injuries halting his progress, and he has just six goals to his name this season.

And with Villa struggling so badly for funds, they must regret going through with the Hogan deal now, as he has not proven value for money.
