Aston Villa must be encouraged by Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri’s comments

Aston Villa are said to be interested in taking Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan.

Aston Villa should have just received all the encouragement they need to pursue Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan in the January transfer window.

Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri held a fans’ forum last night, where he opened up about the Owls’ current problems.

Chansiri admitted that Wednesday are having real difficulties complying with Financial Fair Play, which could be music to Villa boss Dean Smith’s ears.

He said, as reported by the Guardian: “We have problems with FFP, so it is hard but we will try our best.

“With January in mind, I cannot answer what we can do right now. The important thing for me is to solve FFF.”

The comments have led to serious concerns around Wednesday that key players could be offloaded in January.

And Villa should have taken note of Chansiri’s words, given their reported interest in Bannan.

The Daily Mirror have suggested that Villa are prepared to pay £8 million for Bannan, with Smith keen to sign up the midfielder.

And it may be that if Villa do make a sizeable bid for the Scottish international that Wednesday are no longer in a position to be able to reject the offer.
