The Republic of Ireland international – who joined Villa from Barnsley in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Irish Examiner to be worth £3 million – has also said that he plans to add more assists to his name this season.
Hourihane told The Express & Star: “The aim and the plan is to get into double figures again and beat the tally I got last year. I’d like to add more assists to my game as well, I think I only had three last season.
“Even though my goal return was good last year my assist numbers weren’t so good, so I want to get more.”

Excitement for Aston Villa fans
Villa have made a strong start to the season, and Hourihane’s aforementioned comments is only going to make the Villa Park faithful more excited.
Hourihane is a very good and experienced midfielder, and his desire to score more goals and provide more assists can only make the Villans a better team this season.
