The Spaniard would like to remain at Deportivo La Coruna.
Aston Villa’s Carles Gil
Aston Villa look set to lose Spanish playmaker Carles Gil. The 24-year-old joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan in the summer and has been in good form for the La Liga side this term.
He has played 19 times for the club this season and is very happy at the Riazor.
Speaking to La Voz de Galicia this week he confirmed his desire to remain at Deportivo after the summer, with Villa again set to be playing Championship football in 2017-18.
Gil stated:
“Of course, I see a possibility of me continuing here. I don’t know. I think that, in the end, with a bit of luck, Aston Villa and I will reach the same conclusion. It’s possible that me leaving will suit them. If that’s the case, then it will be much easier.
“I don’t get bored of saying it, because it’s true, that I’m really happy here. Deportivo has given me a lot of confidence, at the beginning and throughout the season. We’ll see how everything unfolds.”

He arrived at Aston Villa from Valencia in January 2015 for a fee in the region of £3.2 million, as reported by the BBC.
He has however failed to nail down a regular starting place at Villa Park – despite impressing at times and scoring two very memorable goals against Bournemouth and Sunderland.

Gil featured just 27 times in Villa’s terrible 2015-16 campaign – in which they finished bottom of the table and were relegated to the second tier of English football.
It would be a good move for Villa if they could get a good fee for the player this summer.
