John McGinn was the big winner at Aston Villa’s end of season awards on Wednesday evening as he claimed two of the main player prizes.

The 24-year-old has become a Villa fan favourite after signing from Scottish Premiership club Hibernian for an undisclosed fee reported to be £2.79million (Transfermarkt) last summer.

On top of his superb all-round play, McGinn has also weighed in with six goals and 10 assists in the league, plus he played a huge part in the club’s 10-game winning run to cement a Championship playoff place.

McGinn picked up two awards, being named the Players’ Player of the Season and also the Supporters Player of the Season, testament to how much he is appreciated both by his teammates and by the fanbase.

The Scotland ace took to Twitter on Thursday to thank everyone who had voted for him the previous day:

Here is how some of the claret and blue faithful responded to his tweet:

Jack Grealish won the Goal of the Season award for his strike in last month’s 2-1 win over Rotherham United, which topped an online poll ahead of McGinn’s volley against Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the campaign.

Jacob Ramsey was named Academy Player of the Season, Amy West took the prize for Villa Ladies Player of the Year and Albert Adomah won the Aston Villa Foundation Contribution award for his work helping the charity.
