Aston Villa and West Brom are linked with a move for the Newcastle United hitman.

Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion are both linked with a move to sign Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle want £20 million for the 29-year-old, with The Birmingham Mail claiming that he’s on Aston Villa’s radar this summer.
Gayle spent last season on loan at West Brom and a permanent move to The Hawthorns has also been mooted, but Villa might have a major advantage over their West Midlands rivals.
The Birmingham Mail claimed on Saturday that the Baggies would not be pursuing a deal for Gayle because they cannot afford his wages.
This benefits Aston Villa, Premier League new boys, in a big way because their £170 million jackpot from winning the playoff ensures that they would be able to satisfy Gayle’s financial requests.
But should they? Well that’s another thing entirely.
With 21 goals in 99 Premier League appearances, Gayle, who turns 30 in October, isn’t a solid goalscorer in the top tier and for £20 million, and whatever they’d be paying him in wages, Villans boss Dean Smith should give him a wide berth.
