Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has been chasing Neal Maupay from Brentford this summer.

Brentford want £15 million for Maupay, who had been on Dean Smith’s radar at Villa.
The claret and blues reportedly feel that price makes him too expensive, but they may be making a mistake.
Maupay was in brilliant form in the Championship last season, and he scored 25 goals for Brentford.
The Frenchman only hit one goal less than Tammy Abraham, and if Villa were to try and buy their former loanee back then Chelsea would demand a lot more that what Brentford are asking for.
Maupay actually looks reasonable priced for a player of his talent and ability.
Maupay is still only 22 and he claimed 25 goals in the Championship last season, meaning he could develop into a huge threat at Villa.

Smith only needs to look across the road at Birmingham City, who demanded £16 million for Che Adams from Southampton (Daily Mail), to see that the deal he has on offer is a fair one.
Adams scored three less goals than Maupay last term, and is a year older, yet Southampton were happy to pay the price to bring the rapid front man in.
And Villa shouldn’t walk away from a transfer for Maupay, as he actually represents good value for money in the current market.
