Aston Villa want Marcus Thuram but it’s understood that the Borussia Monchengladbach ace is being offered out to even bigger clubs.

Villa continue to be linked with signing attacking players ahead of the January transfer window.

Nicolas Jackson, Samuel Chukwueze and even Joao Felix have been linked with moves to Villa Park following Unai Emery’s arrival.

Emery has inherited the likes of Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings, Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia and Philippe Coutinho but seemingly still fancies another attacker.

Aston Villa want Marcus Thuram

One of the key names being linked is Borussia Monchengladach forward Marcus Thuram.

Thuram is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave Gladbach in 2023.

That could be on a free in the summer or possibly for a knockdown fee during the January transfer window.

Thuram has racked up 10 goals and three assists in just 15 Bundesliga games this season, meaning he is really turning heads on the market.

The Frenchman is currently at the World Cup but can expect to be inundated with offers as we head towards the winter window.

French newspaper L’Equipe reported in November that Villa were looking to snap up Thuram in January.

Emery’s men are far from the only team in the race though and it seems that Thuram is being offered here, there and everywhere.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Villa could be in for a huge bargain if they can sign Thuram for around £6million.

Jones did though suggest that Thuram is being offered to ‘bigger clubs than Aston Villa’, meaning Emery may be left waiting to find out what other clubs think first.

“That would be a proper bargain if they could get that one done,” said Jones. “I think a lot of it will depend on what other clubs show interest here because he’s being offered around to some bigger clubs than Aston Villa,” he added.

Jones actually told Give Me Sport in November that Newcastle United were being offered Thuram as a potential signing.

The Magpies could chase a forward in January and are seemingly one of the clubs Thuram is being pitched to.

Now, whether you think Newcastle are bigger than Villa is up to personal choice, but the lure of playing in this Magpies project could be very appealing to a number of players – including Thuram.
