Aston Villa managed Steven Gerrard has told Friday’s press conference ahead of Saturday evening’s clash against Tottenham. He also gave his verdict on Spurs manager Antonio Conte – in what is an important clash.

Spurs come into the match in superb form, winning six of their last eight Premier League matches – such form has taken them into fourth place. They remain in fourth, but only on goal difference. Arsenal have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have been just as inconsistent as Spurs were in the first few months of Conte’s tenure. Gerrard has seen his side lose three on the bounce to Wolves, Arsenal and West Ham – after winning the prior two.

Villa gaffer Gerrard told his press conference that his Spurs side will have to be right at the top of their game if they are to beat Tottenham. He was full of praise for Conte, but he is well aware that Spurs are near “unbeatable”.

“Spurs are in great form and they’ve got a top-class manager. You have to remember that over the course of the season, Spurs aren’t unbeatable,” Gerrard told his reporters ahead of Saturday’s clash at Villa Park.

“It wasn’t so long ago that the manager was extremely frustrated because they had inconsistencies. Good team, good form, good players but not unbeatable,” Gerrard continued, as quoted by Villa’s website.

Gerrard on Tottenham: Spurs should be confident of beating Villa

Villa sit way down in 11th and while they will have home advantage on Saturday evening. The Midlands side have won just one of their last six Premier League games at home, losing three and drawing two.

Tottenham are on fire. They look unbeatable at the moment and the momentum is certainly with them in the chase for fourth place. Arsenal take on Brighton, likely to get a win, so Spurs must gain all three points.
