Aston Villa drew 1-1 against Leeds United in the Championship clash.
Aston Villa came from behind to register a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday.
Leeds dominated the first half, and got a deserved goal through Pontus Jansson in the 17th minute. Villa regrouped in the second half, and restored parity through Henri Lansbury.
The 27-year-old came from the bench in the second half, and scored with a strike from a distance in the 71st minute.
Steve Bruce, the Aston Villa manager, has expressed his delight with Lansbury’s performance, saying that he played “very good” after he came on.
Lansbury has had a season to forget so far. The former Nottingham Forest player suffered from tendinitis in his knee, and hadn’t played since the EFL Cup defeat to Middlesbrough in September.
Bruce said that the season didn’t go as well as everybody expected of him, but everyone was convinced of his ability. He hopes that the performance will give him a bit of confidence to go forward.
“I’m delighted because he’s had an awful knee, and he’s worked hard over the last two or three weeks,” said Bruce, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
“It hasn’t gone as well as everybody expected it to go with H, then he picks up this awful knee injury which has kept him out for weeks.
“The last couple of weeks in particular more like H again and we all know he’s been a good player at this level, so hopefully he’s found his feet and it’ll give him that little bit of confidence. He looked a very good player when he came on.”
Aston Villa are fourth in the Championship table with 36 points on board.
