Burnley boss Sean Dyche is now one of the favourites to take over at Aston Villa.
Sean Dyche’s odds to become the next Aston Villa manager have dramatically fallen, after a string of bets were placed on the Burnley boss taking over from Roberto Di Matteo.
It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Steve Bruce would become Villa’s next manager, but the bookies now believe it is a two-horse race.
Bruce is still the odds-on favourite to take over at Villa, but his odds have drifted from as short as 1/5 to 8/13.
Dyche, meanwhile, was once a rank outsider to take charge of the Midlands club, but he is now considered a 6/4 shot.
According to the BBC, Villa are considered appointing a manager who is under contract at a club – but they have not yet made a decision over who is their first choice.
Dyche has guided Burnley to two promotions to the Premier League, on a budget which would be smaller than the one handed to him at Villa.
If Dyche does take over at Villa, he will be facing an uphill challenge to guide them to promotion this season – as the Midlands side are already 10 points behind the play off places.
