Aston Villa centre-back James Chester has spoken highly of Wigan Athletic manager Warren Joyce.
The Villans host Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and summer signing James Chester explained the influence that the current Latics boss Warren Joyce had on the early stages of his career, during an interview with the club’s official website.
Chester, 27, worked under the 51-year-old Joyce while he was part of the academy side at Manchester United eight years ago.

And the Villa centre-back shared how much he owes the Wigan boss, explaining how he even asked him for advice before he completed his move to Villa Park, as quoted by avfc.co.uk:
“Warren is someone I still speak to even now at this stage of my career. I spoke to Warren before signing for Villa – his advice and knowledge is very important to me. He put me in really good stead at an important stage of my career. He’s someone I owe a lot to.”

Both side’s will be desperate for a win on Saturday, and for entirely different reasons.
Steve Bruce’s men sit just six pints adrift of the play-off spots, and will be looking to put together a winning run over the Christmas period to force their way into the promotion mix.
Wigan, on the other hand, are deeply embroiled in a relegation scrap, and currently sit second from bottom in the Championship table, two points adrift of safety.
A win for the visitor could see them move outside the bottom three, and what a boost that would be, with the a run of six fixtures over a 23-day period ahead of them.
