Aston Villa have launched a bid to sign Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers, sources have confirmed to HITC Football.

Rogers only joined Boro in the summer from Manchester City and Villa are now presenting them with the chance to make a quick profit.

The 21-year-old has played in over 30-games for Michael Carrick’s side this season chipping in with six goals and seven assists, although he is far from being a regular starter.

Rogers has proven important in terms of his flexibility playing across the forward line and even as a central striker.

Strong relationship

Boro and Villa have a strong relationship following recent deals involving Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey and more recently Finn Azaz – which points to the fact that agreement is likely for Rogers.

Sources with knowledge of the situation suggest Rogers is keen to seal the move, with Unai Emery personally recommending Villa make the move after their recent FA Cup clash – a game which Rogers impressed hugely.

Confidence

Speaking recently, Rogers revealed that confidence players a huge part in his game, and it is something that he has picked up since his move to Boro.

“Confidence is a big thing for me,” said Rogers.

“I try to be as as confident as I can be but sometimes it’s not possible. I’m at my best when I’m at my most confident and I’m not really thinking about things, it’s just off the cuff.

“I think the last few games, especially Saturday, I felt really involved and sharp. I felt much better than maybe I have at other times. That’s something I’ve worked on. I’ve had to look at myself, I know the level I can get to and the player I can become, it’s just about working hard on the training pitch and listening to the amazing coaches I have.”
