Aston Villa loanee Tyrone Mings has lauded Tammy Abraham, insisting that he can do anything.
Tyrone Mings has told Aston Villa’s official website that he would name Tammy Abraham as his toughest opponent in training, insisting that the fellow loanee is capable of anything.
Villa find themselves in a fantastic position heading into the final weeks of the Championship season. They have now won six in a row and are being tipped by many to go on and win the play-offs with all the momentum with Dean Smith’s side right now.
One of the main reasons that the Villans find themselves in this position is the form of Abraham, who has been superb throughout the campaign, even when those around him have struggled.
The 21-year-old has scored 23 goals in the league. So it may not be a huge surprise that the centre-back – who joined Bournemouth for £8 million in 2015 (via BBC Sport) – picked out the striker when asked to name the player who gives him the most problems in training.
“I’ve got to go for Tammy Abraham,” he told the club’s official website. “He can do anything. He is good in the air. He is good with his feet. He is quick. He is strong. He’s certainly a handful for any defender.
“You can see that with his goal ratio this season, which has been phenomenal.”
Considering that Villa have arguably the most gifted player in the Championship in their squad in Jack Grealish, it is still extremely high praise from Mings to pick Abraham out.
It would be a fascinating battle to watch. Mings’ arrival has arguably been as important to Villa’s promotion push as Abraham joining on loan in the summer was. And if Smith’s men do go up, it would be no surprise to see both men on the club’s shopping list ahead of their return to the Premier League.
