Aston Villa have taken Josh Onomah on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

Josh Onomah of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Aston Villa at St Andrews (stadium) on October 29, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Aston Villa midfielder Josh Onomah has told the Birmingham Mail that he plans to return to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of his loan spell.

Onomah has impressed since joining Villa last summer, and is now playing a key role in Steve Bruce’s first-team.

The 20-year-old scored in Villa’s most recent match against Sunderland, as the claret and blues picked up a 2-1 victory.

And Onomah’s recent displays have led to Bruce confirming that he wants to sign the attacking midfielder from Tottenham at the end of the campaign.

Bruce is keen to bring the Spurs man to Villa on a permanent basis, but Onomah’s latest comments can only be bad news for the Midlands side.

Onomah has confirmed that his desire is to return to Spurs, where he hopes to be playing more regularly next term.

The 20-year-old said: “Obviously I want to do well here and help Villa get promoted, then go back to my parent club and get back in the team.”

Joshua Onomah of Tottenaham Hotspur warms up prior to the Premier League match between Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur at the Liberty Stadium on April 5, 2017 in Swansea, Wales.

Unless Onomah changes his mind dramatically, it seems that Villa may have to look elsewhere to strengthen their squad next summer.

Onomah has actually been linked with a Spurs exit recently, with the London Evening Standard suggesting he could be used in a swap deal with Watford for Richarlison.
