Aston Villa are being credited with an interest in the Stoke City midfielder.
A move to Aston Villa would see the Stoke City midfielder, Ryan Woods, come full-circle.
According to the Mirror, Woods is being eyed by Aston Villa as an alternative to the Leeds United midfielder, Kalvin Phillips.
The 25-year-old played under the Villa manager, Dean Smith, and alongside the new Villans recruits, Ezri Konsa and Jota, at Brentford.
And if he is to head to Villa Park it would not be the first chance he has had to do so.
Speaking to My London in 2016, Woods, who was born and raised in Staffordshire, revealed: “I actually did have a trial there (at Aston Villa) as a kid and I didn’t enjoy it so that’s when I went to Walsall and then Shrewsbury after that.”
Aston Villa’s recent rise, not to mention the presence of Smith, Konsa and Jota, could cause Woods to think differently this time around, however.
Stoke are reported to have paid Brentford £6.5 million for Woods on a permanent basis in January, but he was often overlooked by the new Potters boss, Nathan Jones, in the latter stages of the campaign.
