Aston Villa have reportedly missed out on signing the youngster this month.
According to a report from Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt, Charlie Colkett is ready to travel to Sweden to tie up a move to Ostersunds – in a deal that is bound to frustrate Aston Villa.
The Sunday People (20/1; page 49) reported at the weekend that Colkett was closing in on a move to the Villans, with John Terry playing a key role in landing the midfielder on loan from Chelsea.
Colkett spent the first-half of the season on loan at Shrewsbury, but the report seemingly suggested that he was set to spend the rest of the campaign in the Championship, trying to help get Dean Smith’s men back in the promotion race.
However, FotbollDirekt has suggested that Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Ostersunds, and the 22-year-old is all set to travel to try and finalise a deal.
The report adds that Ostersunds want to sign Colkett on a permanent basis in the hope that they can sell him on for significantly more in the future.
For Villa, they may not feel that missing out on the youngster is too much of a blow. They have a lot of depth in the middle of the park, and Smith arguably has much more pressing concerns heading into the final days of the window, particularly at left-back.
