Aston Villa have drifted further away from the play-off spots after a poor run of form.
Speaking to BBC West Midlands Radio, Aston Villa legend Nigel Spink discussed his former club’s worrying run of form of late, and suggested that a major concern for Steve Bruce will be his players’ lack of passion.
Villa have slipped to 13th in the Championship table, 10 points adrift of sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, after a run of three league games without a win.
And Spink, who made 468 appearances for the Villans during a 19-year spell with the club, shared how he believes the side are badly letting the fans down at the moment, when speaking to BBC West Midlands Radio:

“I think Steve Bruce will wish his players had the passion of the fans. They have not had a lot to shout about away from home this season. They turn up week in and week out, hopeful that their team will perform for them. Sadly I think those fans have some way to wait.”
Bruce’s men now face a crucial month that could prove to be vital if they are to have any chance whatsoever of forcing themselves inside the top six.

Back-to-back home games against Preston North-End and Bristol City are followed by consecutive away games against Brentford and Nottingham Forest respectively, before they return to Villa Park for two home games in a row against Ipswich Town and Barnsley.
And Bruce will be looking for a return of maximum points from those games, in the hope of turning their flagging season around.
