The former Villa youngster scored a sensational goal.

Aston Villa have picked up a hard-fought win in the Championship this afternoon. They won 2-1 at Villa Park against Burton Albion, albeit in a game in which they failed to reach their top level.

They had taken the lead through Leandro Bacuna, but it was a goal in the 78th minute from Ross McCormack that actually secured them the win.

Both goals certainly got a reaction from a former Villa favourite.

Ian Taylor was tweeting away throughout the game and reacted in trademark exuberant fashion when both men grabbed their respective goals:

But he also praised the goal scored from Burton Albion.

It was Jamie Ward who found the back of the net, with an absolutely stunning bicycle kick, and Taylor was sufficiently impressed:

Of course Ward began his footballing education at Villa Park.

During his time at his boyhood side he never featured for the first-team and scoring this goal certainly put a smile on his face, as he rushed off to celebrate the occasion.

In the end, it was Villa who had the last laugh with a win from a poor performance highlighting the resolve they have developed under Steve Bruce’s management.
