Aston Villa matched an achievement previously set in 1910 when they surged to a ninth consecutive win on Good Friday in their 2-0 Championship triumph away at Bolton Wanderers.
The playoff-chasing West Midlanders went to the University of Bolton Stadium to face a team that was on the brink of relegation and the visitors were bright from the off.
The first half saw Anwar El Ghazi shot wide from Jack Grealish’s cross, while John McGinn had an effort cleared off the line by Harry Brockbank.
Bolton, meanwhile, lost both captain David Wheater and veteran midfielder Gary O’Neil to injury before the break, but they held on to ensure the deadlock was not broken come half time.
This changed just two minutes after the restart when Tammy Abraham’s cross was nodded home by Jack Grealish at the far post for his sixth goal of the campaign.
The Villa captain reciprocated the favour when his own delivery was converted by the Chelsea loanee 10 minutes later for his 24th of the season, and the hosts couldn’t respond.

Hause has not featured since the away victory at Sheffield Wednesday but the Villa website said prior to the Bolton game that manager Dean Smith is expecting him to be back in training early next week after the Millwall game.
