Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has taken to Twitter to express his relief – and possibly poke fun – at the statistical millstone that had been on him prior to Friday night’s Premier League 2-0 win over Everton.

After losing their first two games of the season, Dean Smith’s side got their campaign up and running as Wesley Moraes opened the scoring in the 21st minute at Villa Park and Anwar El Ghazi made sure of victory deep into injury time.

Last time Villa were in the Premier League prior to their stint in the Championship, they were a completely different – basically, much worse – side to now, while Grealish was a younger, more raw player, still developing.

Despite this, however, one statistic had been floating around, namely that Grealish had lost 20 Premier League games in a row – but with Friday night’s win at Villa Park, that has now been put to bed.

Here is Grealish’s take on social media, replying to Sky Sports Statto, who highlighted the end of the run:

Up next for Aston Villa is their Carabao Cup trip to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night before heading to Selhurst Park at the weekend to take on Crystal Palace.
