Christopher Samba is reportedly training with Aston Villa, with a view to joining up with Steve Bruce’s side.
According to the Daily Mail, Steve Bruce has invited Christopher Samba to Aston Villa to training to trial the centre-back.
The 32-year-old is currently a free agent and available for transfer, and Bruce feels that the former Blackburn and QPR man may have something to offer Villa.
However, the transfer moves makes little sense, after Bruce’s recent transfer admission.
Bruce has suggested that he has changed too much too quickly at Villa since taking charge.
He said to BBC Radio West Midlands: “Maybe it’s been too quick to change three quarters of the team.
“That’s my responsibility, I take that on board. The buck stops with me, and I will do my utmost to turn it around.”
The claret and blues were extremely active in the January transfer window, and the upheaval of their squad has not been good for their form.
Villa are yet to win in 2017, despite their heavy investment, with the new signings all taking time to settle into their new home.
By taking Samba on trial Bruce is only adding further uncertainty and instability to the group at Villa.
Although the Midlands side have not committed to buying the veteran defender yet, his presence on the training ground is enough to cause greater confusion.
The likes of Tommy Elphick, Nathan Baker and James Chester will surely feel threatened by Samba’s arrival. And with Villa’s confidence already fragile, Bruce could be making a mistake by looking to bring in further new arrivals.
