Aston Villa expect Jacob Ramsey to miss several weeks after sustaining an injury at home to West Ham United during Sunday’s Premier League defeat, according to Birmingham Live.
Ramsey rolled his ankle 15-minutes into the Irons’ visit to Villa Park, forcing manager Dean Smith into an early change. The 20-year-old had made his sixth start in nine appearances in the top-flight this term at home to the Hammers.
Smith rewarded the youngster with another starting role after scoring his first senior goal against Arsenal the prior Friday. Ramsey came off the bench late on and injected life into a mostly lifeless Villans display at the Emirates Stadium.

Aston Villa sent Ramsey for checks on his injury following Sunday’s 4-1 loss to West Ham to assess the severity. The Express and Star note the issue is a high ankle sprain, which could keep the Birmingham-born talent out of action during what is likely a key period for Smith.
The Villans are now without a win in their last four Premier League fixtures after successive defeats. Dropping the Villa Park natives down to 15th in the table, with a mere three-point margin to the relegation zone.
Aston Villa are the only Premier League side to not claim a single point since October 1. The Birmingham natives and Manchester United (10) are also the only clubs to concede double-figures with 12 goals shipped. They had only allowed seven over their previous six fixtures.

Ramsey injury a big blow for Aston Villa boss Smith
Ramsey missing several weeks through an ankle injury will be a big blow for Aston Villa and their manager, Smith. He would likely have relied heavily on the Villa product to help turn the club’s form around. But his absence opens a door for Morgan Sanson to leave his mark.
Sanson will hope to show he has more to offer Smith and Aston Villa than Ramsey after his injury troubles. But will have sizable shoes to fill, as the prospect – who Darren Moore once said has ‘wonderful feet’, via the Free Press – has proven he can score and create chances.
