Aston Villa signed Hogan from Brentford in January 2017.

Scott Hogan of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough at Villa Park on September 12, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Some Aston Villa fans want to sell Scott Hogan in January, less than a year after the striker’s arrival from Brentford.

Hogan has made 31 appearances for Villa, who paid £9.45 million for his services [Transfermarkt], but has started less than half of those.

And with only four goals to his name – three of which came against lower league opponents in the Carabao Cup – it’s fair to say the move hasn’t worked out so far.

For some, it’s not entirely Hogan’s fault. They’ll perhaps tell you he needs to play in a two, or that his intelligent runs simply aren’t picked up by those around him.

But for others, their mind is already made up. He’s not good enough for Villa and never will be.

Whichever side you’re on, the general consensus is that the Irishman will be offloaded in January, although some are more keen for it to happen than others.
