A number of Aston Villa fans have been giving their thoughts on Twitter about the draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, which has put Dean Smith’s side up against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park.

The Villans earned their place in round four after running out 3-1 winners away at Brighton & Hove Albion as Jota opened the scoring on 22 minutes, Conor Hourihane doubled the visitors’ lead shortly after the half-hour mark and Jack Grealish added a third in the second half.

Although the Seagulls had halved the deficit just after the hour mark through Haydn Roberts, it ended up being just a consolation as Villa re-established their two-goal lead and saw the game out to book themselves the tie against their West Midlands and Premier League rivals.

Wolves, meanwhile, needed penalties to get through their third-round tie with Reading after they took the lead at Molineux through debutant Bruno Jordao, only to be pegged back by the Royals in the 99th minute of injury time.

Here is what some Villa fans said on social media regarding the draw in response to the official club channel’s announcement:

The League Cup tie will be the first of three fixtures between Villa and Wolves this season, with Molineux hosting the two sides in the league on 10 November and Villa Park hosting the reverse on 4 April.
