The Villa loanee, on the books at Chelsea, scored to help Dean Smith’s side beat Championship playoff rivals West Brom at Villa Park.
Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham spoke to reporters after the Championship playoff semi-final first-leg win over West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park and may have dropped a hint regarding his future, which some B6 faithful certainly picked up on.
The striker, on loan at Villa Park from Chelsea, scored the winner for Dean Smith’s side in the 79th minute of the game after Jack Grealish went down in the area under a challenge from Kieran Gibbs and Abraham made no mistake from the penalty spot.
It was Abraham’s 26th goal of the campaign and it helped seal a 2-1 home win over the Baggies, with fellow prolific marksman Dwight Gayle having opened the scoring for the visitors with his 24th of the season before Conor Hourihane equalised for Villa.
Although the 21-year-old is scheduled to return to Stamford Bridge as things stand, many Villa fans want him to stay, and his response to the club reporter at full time gave them some hope.
In conversation about his goal, he was told by the Villa media team reporter that “if this was to be your last game at Villa Park, what a moment to enjoy”, to which he responded: “Yeah definitely, it’s been a fantastic season.
“I don’t want to say it’s my last game here yet… like I said it’s been a fantastic year, this stadium, there’s nothing like it, when it’s rocking, which it has been all year, it’s the best place to be.”
Needless to say a lot of Villa fans got excited and made their feelings known on Twitter:
