A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has joined League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan for the season (official Rovers website).

A graduate of Villa’s youth academy, the 20-year-old striker made his professional debut in the Premier League at the age of 16, coming on as a substitute for the last seven minutes in place of Christian Benteke in the 4-0 away victory at Sunderland in March 2015.

Hepburn-Murphy has impressed for Villa’s Under-23s, with 24 goals and 5 assists from 43 appearances according to Transfermarkt, while at senior level his claret and blue tally stands at 17 appearances.

He also enjoyed a loan stint at Cambridge United earlier this year in which he made 16 appearances – all in League Two – with two goals and one assist under his belt, and now he is set to make the step up a league.

“I can’t wait to get going,” Hepburn-Murphy told the official Tranmere website. “The start of the season is exciting especially after getting promoted last season so we want to get going as quick as possible.

“I played against Tranmere last season and I really liked the way they played so that has played a part in me deciding to join. I’m pacey, like to score goals and take on defenders.”

Here is how some Villa fans reacted on social media to news that the highly rated youngster will be plying his trade for the Birkenhead outfit this term:
